Pysanki is the art of creating Ukrainian eggs by applying hot wax to the egg, then dyeing the egg and repeating the process to get brilliant colors in complex designs. I have been "doing eggs" since I was 4 years old. The eggs are beautiful yet inherently fragile. In this series I explored decorating my pots with Pysanki designs. I used a satin glaze as a base and applied colored engobes with the drop/pull method using a pin head. I like the old-world folk art feel of these pieces.
